We received planning permission on Thursday night (19/2/16). We would like to thank the local Rushey Green Councillors for all their support and to Helen Klier for speaking on our behalf.
We can now get on with re-building the pub and re-opening it hopefully in time for Christmas.

Catford Bridge Tavern Re-opening Christmas 2016

At last, some great news. The Catford Bridge Tavern will re-open in December 2016. After some excellent progress with Lewisham planning department and some very helpful meetings with local Councillors, we can now put a plan in place to reconstruct the building to its former glory. It has always been our intention to reintroduce this iconic Catford landmark back to the community and we can’t wait to get started. We would like to thank all the members of the public who have contacted us to offer support for the scheme over the last few months. Please stay posted for further updates as the project develops.

We've been getting a few emails and 'social media' messages asking us what's going on so this is just a short note to say, rest assured, we are still working towards building the pub. Unfortunately it's just taking a long time due to the level of damage sustained. Of course, we'll update you when there's more news.

Last night, the fire brigade attended a fire at The Catford Bridge Tavern. The fire was extinguished and no-one was hurt. The LFB web site notes that they weren't treating the incident as suspicious.

Everyone working on restoring the pub is pleased that no-one was injured in this unfortunate incident. Michael Nicholas from Solitaire Restaurants, owner of The Catford Bridge Tavern, notes: 'We’re not in a position to comment on the fire, but we are working to ensure that the site is safe and secure. Our intention has always been to reopen the pub and nothing has changed in that regard.'

Solitaire Limited, the new owners of the Catford Bridge Tavern, plan to reopen the pub in 2015.

Solitaire is a small, independent pub company with a tradition of revitalising important local pubs across the London area; it has ambitious plans for the Catford Bridge Tavern and is determined to re-establish the pub within the local community.

Plans include a bespoke bar in the centre of the pub welcoming customers as they arrive, a restaurant and a heated outdoor roof terrace to the rear.

As well as restoring the pub, the company plan to sympathetically refurbish the residential area into a combination of 1, 2 and 3 bedroom flats. Solitaire has taken great care to ensure that the residential refurbishment does not affect the external appearance of this fine building.

A planning application determining the future of the building has been presented to Lewisham Council. To date, feedback from the planners to the proposals has been extremely positive.

If the planning application is successful, building work will start in 2015.
